The True Meaning of Labor Day

This week, The Hill published an Op-Ed by UFCW International President Marc Perrone and Executive Vice President Esther Lopez. In it, they remind us all that Labor Day isn’t just about celebrating the end of summer and cooking out. It’s a day to celebrate all hard-working men and women in America, including those who have been left out, thanks to our broken immigration system.

Today ‪Tri-City Medical Center officially certified United Food & Commercial Workers Local 135 as the bargaining representative for CLS and MLTs. A campaign led by bad ass womyn! So proud of all of them! We are proud of Sandy Naranjo too, who led them in organizing!

MultiCare Workers Vote “Yes” to Join UFCW Local 21

August 11, MultiCare workers from Covington Emergency Department in Washington state, voted to join UFCW Local 21. With a union voice, the health care workers will now have the tools to provide better quality care to patients and support each other in the workplace. Key issues that were important to workers include job security and protections, cost-of-living increases and yearly step increases, labor management committees to address staffing concerns, and affordable benefits.

The Laboratory Scientists and Medical Laboratory Technicians from Tri City Hospital. Jul 15, 2015 – L431 Jewel OscoJewel-Osco Pharmacy workers in Clinton, Iowa, have voted to join UFCW Local 431. The 16 workers decided to come together to join UFCW Local 431 to be able to negotiate a fair and systematic way to solve workplace issues, secure schedules, and improve wages and benefits.
