Quest Diagnostics Workers Vote “Yes” to Join UFCW Local 135

Jan 29, 2016 – Quest Diagnostics workers in San Diego voted to join UFCW Local 135. The workers join a growing movement of phlebotomist and lab technicians who have come together from the Northwest to the Southwest to raise standards in the health care industry. Workers wanted to join a union in order improve their jobs and workplace. L135-Quest-e1453908032960[1]Better wages, respect on the job, stable schedules, and vacation and sick days are some of the top priorities for workers. Negotiations for their first contract begins next month.

Quest Diagnostics is a leading diagnostics services provider in oncology and genetics. Quest Diagnostics annually serves one in three adult Americans and half the physicians and hospitals in the United States, and has 45,000 employees.  Given the company’s prominence, workers hope that through the growing power of their combined voice, Quest Diagnostics workers will be able to influence and improve standards for workers throughout the industry.

With the encouragement and support of their coworkers, these workers are coming together and finding their voice.

LabCorp Workers Vote Union Yes

LabCorp workers at labs across San Diego and Los Angeles County voted union Yes this week to join UFCW Local 135 and UFCW Local 770. LabCorp Workers in LA & San Diego Vote UNION YES

Andre-HernandezPrior to our union vote, LabCorp made promises that they would give me a raise to keep up with industry standards. But in my three years with the company, Corporate kept finding ways to deny this raise until all of us in Southern California came together through union organizing.

All of us coming together as one big force is giving us the ability to revolutionize the lab industry from the inside out, and to have what is fair for the important work we do as professionals.

Two Days – Two Wins: Welcome LabCorp Brothers and Sisters!

August 6, 2015 –  UFCW Local 135 has won it’s second organizing election in two days. This time we are proud to welcome our newest members from LabCorp in North San Diego. Another great job by our Organizing Department and props to our lead Organizer on the campaign, Anabel Salcedo. We are very proud of her!
